Corrections Policy
Travel information goes out of date. This is what happens when something here is wrong.
Reporting an error
Email ibnoucheikhamin@gmail.com. Naming the page and the specific claim makes it much faster to check, and a link to an official source that contradicts us makes it faster still.
Reports are welcome from anyone — readers, operators, tourism bodies and venues included.
What gets corrected
Any factual error, once verified. That includes wrong operational detail, a claim that has become untrue, a misattributed photograph, and a recommendation resting on a fact that turns out to be incorrect.
We verify before changing. A correction that introduces a second error because it was made in a hurry helps nobody, so a report is checked against a primary source before the page moves.
Urgent travel information first
Anything that could affect a trip already underway or about to start is prioritised above everything else — a closure, a suspended service, a changed entry requirement, a booking rule that has moved.
These are corrected as soon as they are confirmed rather than held for a scheduled review.
Corrections and dates
Once an article has been published, a meaningful change updates its modification date, so a reader can see the page has moved since it went live.
Minor typographic fixes — a typo, punctuation, a broken link — do not update the modification date and do not carry a correction notice. Treating a comma as a content update would make the date meaningless, which defeats the point of showing one.
Route Edition does not backdate or forward-date anything. A date on this site refers to something that actually happened.
When a verdict changes
Sometimes new evidence changes not a detail but a recommendation. When that happens the page is updated to say what we now think and why, rather than quietly edited to look as though it always said it.
Commercial relationships never block a correction
If a place, operator or product carries an affiliate link and the honest update is a negative one, the update is made. A commercial relationship has never prevented a correction here and never will.
The same applies to requests to remove unfavourable coverage: we will correct anything factually wrong, and we will not remove an accurate judgment because someone would prefer it were not published. The editorial policy covers the wider standard.
