Privacy Policy

What this site does and does not do with information, described as it actually works today.

In short

Route Edition is a publication, not a service. There are no accounts, no comments, no contact form, no newsletter and no payments, so there is very little for us to collect — and we do not run analytics or advertising trackers.

What we cannot honestly claim is that nothing is processed. Serving a website requires a server, and the company that hosts this one necessarily handles the technical details of your request. That is described below.

Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes the information a browser sends in order to deliver a page and to keep the platform secure and available — typically the requested address, IP address, browser and device information, referring page and timestamp.

This processing happens at the infrastructure level. Route Edition does not use it to build a profile of you, does not attempt to identify you from it, and does not combine it with anything else. Vercel’s own privacy documentation governs what they retain and for how long.

Analytics and cookies

There is currently no analytics platform on this site. No Google Analytics, no advertising or social pixels, no session recording, no heatmaps, no fingerprinting.

Route Edition sets no tracking cookies. Because no non-essential cookie technology is in use, there is no cookie banner — a consent prompt for consent we do not need would be theatre rather than protection.

If privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics are introduced later, this page will say so, name the product, and describe what it measures before it is switched on.

If you email us

The address on the contact page is a Gmail address. If you write to it, your message and email address are held in that mailbox so we can read and reply — and Google, as the provider, processes it under their own terms.

Messages are used to answer the thing you wrote about. They are not added to a mailing list, and there is no mailing list to add them to.

Links to other sites

Route Edition links out to official sources and, on some pages, to Viator through affiliate links. Following any external link takes you to a site we do not control.

Once you leave, that site’s privacy policy and cookie practices apply, not ours — including any tracking an affiliate program uses to attribute a booking. The affiliate disclosure explains the commercial side of those links.

Children

This site is general-audience travel writing. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

This page describes the site as it currently works. If the stack changes — analytics, a newsletter, a form — the change is reflected here as part of shipping it, not after the fact.
